What exactly is Reiki?A: Reiki is a holistic healing practice that originated in Japan. It's based on the concept that a "life force energy" flows through us. Reiki practitioners can help balance this energy by channelling light energy through your body, mind and soul. Reiki energy has the capacity to remove stress blocks, whether it is physical, emotional, mental or spiritual and allows your body to enter complete relaxation. The Practitioner does this by channelling the energy through their hands which they then either hover above or place on your body, usually focussing on the main chakras or 'energy points' through the body. This is a non-invasive and gentle healing technique. When our life force energy is balanced, our body is more capable of healing itself, having a stronger immune-system and managing stress.

What's the difference between distance Reiki and in-person Reiki?A: Great question! The key difference between the two is how the session is conducted. In-person Reiki involves a practitioner placing their hands lightly on or just above your body to facilitate the flow of energy. On the other hand, Distance Reiki uses the principles of 'quantum entanglement' or how I like to describe as tuning into your individual frequency to send healing energy across space and time. This way you can receive Reiki from the comfort of your own home, no matter where you are in the world and experience the same powerful benefits just as you would if we were in-person. Both methods aim to balance your energy and promote relaxation and wellbeing. The best choice depends on your personal preference, availability and circumstances.
-
Will I feel anything during a Reiki session?A: Everyone's experience with Reiki is unique. Some people feel warmth, tingling, pulsing, or a sense of relaxation. Some may even have visualisations, breakthrough thoughts or emotional feelings. Others might not feel anything at all during the session but notice a sense of calm or wellbeing afterward. There's no right or wrong – just your own personal experience!
-
Do I need to do anything to prepare for a Reiki session?A: Not really! Just wear comfortable layered clothing (some people get hot or cold when working with energy) and come with an open mind. You might want to reflect on any areas of your life or body you'd like to focus on, but this isn't necessary. The most important thing is to relax and be open to the experience. I also ask you not to drink alcohol for atleast 24 hours prior to treatment. This is important as your body will be in the best position to receive healing.
-
Can Reiki cure diseases or conditions?A: Reiki is a complementary therapy, which means it's used alongside traditional treatments rather than as a replacement. While Reiki isn't a cure for diseases or conditions, it can help you manage symptoms and improve overall wellbeing by promoting relaxation and stress reduction.
-
How often should I receive Reiki?A: This really depends on your personal needs. Some of my clients enjoy weekly sessions, while others might come once a month or just whenever they feel the need. As you get to know your body and energy levels better, you'll be able to decide what works best for you! It is said, to receive the optimum benefits of Reiki, an individual should have 4 sessions on average - however I always suggest to really listen to your body and intuition, and assess what feels right to you.

Have another question? If you still have questions, or want to discuss Reiki and how it could possibly benefit you please reach out to me. I'm always happy to answer any questions you have.
Hi - I'm Kate
I’m a mother, Reiki Healer, Health Coach and Postnatal Doula in-training. I’m here to help you feel like yourself again.
Gently holding space for you to reconnect with yourself is what I love to do. After becoming a mother myself, I realised the huge gap we have in caring services for parents in the postpartum period. In Western society, you are really left to figure out how to heal physically and emotionally from birth, and be a parent all at the same time, with very little knowledge or support.
